This is only for residences within the City of Fairlawn whose occupants will be temporarily gone on vacation or out of the area for another purpose. If someone is staying at your house while you are gone, we will be unable to conduct a house watch.

    Fairlawn Patrol Officers conduct vacation house watches as time permits during the day. An exterior check is conducted at the property checking for any breaches in security. If an area of concern is observed, we may attempt to contact the homeowner and/or an emergency contact person for further information. If an open door/window at the residence or business is discovered, officers may conduct a search of the building's interior to check for unauthorized persons or evidence of a crime.

      

    By requesting this vacation house check through the City of Fairlawn Police Department, you authorize officers to enter into the premises upon discovery of an unsecured point of entry.

    
    

    Please be courteous and ensure that any hazardous/nuisance conditions are fixed/removed (INCLUDING ANIMAL WASTE IN THE YARD) prior to the start of this house watch. If a hazardous/nuisance condition exists during the house watch duration, officers may decide to avoid the specific area or discontinue the house watch.

    
    

    Ensure that all of the doors and windows are locked and any pre-existing conditions that suggest possible criminal wrongdoing are corrected. This includes broken windows, torn screens, and any other circumstances that would lead a police officer to believe that a security concern exists. If you are unable to correct these conditions, note them in the 'Additional Information' box above.
