No Contest Plea

Overview

When you say "No Contest," you are stating that the Magistrate may make a finding of guilty, but you will be given an opportunity to make a statement. In the event of a subsequent civil or criminal proceeding, such a plea shall not be construed to import an admission of fact at issue.

The arresting officer is not required to appear in court to testify when there is a plea of "No Contest" or "Guilty," though it does not preclude his being called upon for testimony if the court feels that such testimony would be helpful.
