Guilty Plea

Overview

When you plead "Guilty," you are saying that you did commit the offense charged against you and that you consent to being sentenced by the Court.

The Court then disposes of your case and may call upon the Affiant, the Complainant, or the Prosecutor for an explanation of the circumstances to the arrest. The Court may call upon you for any statement you wish to make.

The arresting officer is not required to appear in court to testify when there is a plea of "No Contest" or "Guilty," though it does not preclude his being called upon for testimony if the Court feels that such testimony would be helpful.
