[ARCHIVED] National Police Week and Peace Officers' Memorial Day

Please join us in recognizing National Police Week in support of our law enforcement departments, as well as Peace Officers' Memorial Day as a tribute to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.  National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The members of the Police Division of the City of Fairlawn unceasingly provide a vital public service and are essential to keeping order and safeguarding the citizens of the City of Fairlawn.  Fairlawn City Council has designated May 15 through May 21, 2023, as "National Police Week" and Monday, May 15th as "Peace Officers' Memorial Day" to commemorate the same with all the law enforcement departments of our government on the local, state, and national levels.  Please join us in observing National Police Week and Peace Officers' Memorial Day in honor of those law enforcement officers who, through their courageous deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community or have become disabled in the performance of duty and let us recognize and pay respect to the survivors of our fallen heroes.
