32nd Annual "Bill Stalker Fairlawn Clean Up and Beautification Day" - Large Item Pick Up
Large Item Pick-Up Day will be taking place:
Saturday May 19, 2018
7:00 A.M. - All items MUST be at curb
The large item pick-up is limited to items that are difficult to dispose of through the normal channels. This includes washers, dryers, mattresses, sofas, televisions, microwaves, lawn mowers, etc. If you are discarding a refrigerator, the doors must be removed as required by state law. Large item pick-up DOES NOT INCLUDE: normal trash, leaves, grass, brush, or any other yard waste, household rubbish, concrete or asphalt, heavy construction or demolition materials, paints, chemicals, or any other household hazardous waste. For more information regarding the proper disposal of household hazardous waste, please call ReWork (formerly Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority) at 330-374-0383.
Please make arrangements to have your large items at the curb by 7:00 A.M. on Saturday May 19, 2018. City crews will not be responsible for items placed at the curb after 7:00 A.M.
28th Annual Used Motor Oil Collection Day
The 28th Annual Used Motor Oil Collection Day will also be held on Saturday May 19, 2018 at the Andrew E. Sombati Compactor and Recycling Center.
Please note that the monitors will not accept used motor oil that has been mixed with any solvents.
Monitors will be collecting oil from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on this date.
Free / Secure Document Shredding Day - Saturday June 2, 2018
Summit ReWorks will be offering a Free / Secure Document Shredding Day for residents and businesses in Summit County. Confidential recycling and shredding of your documents will take place at:
City of Fairlawn
Department of Public Service
3300 Fairlawn Service Drive
From 9:00 AM until Noon (Rain or Shine)
There will be a limit of 10 file boxes or shopping bags. Please remove any binder clips, rubber bands, paper clips, binders, report covers and hanging files. STAPLES ARE OKAY. All paper shredded will be recycled. If you have any questions, please contact the Service Department at 330-668-9550.
Mosquito Control Program
The Department of Public Service conducts a Mosquito Control Program starting in May and continuing through September each year.
Spraying begins at dusk and proceeds into the next morning (usually no later than 1:00 am). Typically, our program takes two (2) days to complete and is dependent on temperature, wind and precipitation. Rain dates will be on Thursdays.

The following indicates what day your area will be sprayed.
All residential streets north of:
- West Market Street
- Ridgewood Road
- Brunsdorph Road
- Ridgewood Lakes allotment
- Villages of Fairlawn
All other residential streets south of:
- West Market Street
- Rothrock Road
- Rosemont Ridge
Compactor Registration for 2018-2019
Compactor registration will again be done in person at the Service Department - letters will not be mailed. The following dates and extended hours have been set aside for the purpose of picking up your decals. Hours on Mondays and Tuesdays will be 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Saturday hours will be 10:00 AM - 1:00PM. If possible, please use these extended hours to obtain your decal as these times have been set aside specifically for this purpose.
Monday June 11th, June 18th, June 25th, July 9th, and July 23rd
Tuesday June 12th, June 19th, June 26th, July 10th, and July 24th
Saturday June 16th, June 23rd, July 14th, July 21st, and July 28th
